Clarence Tourism wins Silver at NSW Tourism Awards

Clarence River Tourism Visitor Information Centre Grafton for info on Wooli and Minnie WaterWooli and Minnie Water are lucky to be promoted by a multiple award-winning visitor information centre.

Clarence River Tourism, the main body responsible for promoting the Clarence region including Wooli and Minnie Water, won the Silver Award for Best Visitor Information Centre in NSW for 2012 at a gala event held in Sydney on 22 November 2012.

Endangered coastal emu sightings in Yuraygir National Park

Yuraygir National Park is home to fewer than 100 coastal emus (Dromalus novaehollandiiae). The coastal emu is listed as an endangered population in the NSW Threatened Species Conservation Act 1995.

Although the emus were once in abundance in this area, the local population has been in decline over the past 20 years as a result of habitat loss, fires during the spring breeding season, predation by foxes and wild dogs, and collisions with vehicles.

Goanna Pulling Championships, Wooli – 30 Sept 2012

The 26th Australian National Goanna Pulling Championships will be held in the seaside village of Wooli on the Clarence Coast (just east of Grafton) on Sunday 30 September 2012 (October long weekend).
